Emerald Green

Okama, a crater lake bordering Yamagata and Miyagi prefectures, is famous for its gorgeous emerald green colors, surrounded by a volcanic environment.

With that said, I haven’t seen it yet. Instead, Mother Earth disguised
as heavy fog created an
otherworldly place.

A shrine was waiting at the peak – Enkishikinaisha Zaokattamine Shrine (延喜式内社 蔵王刈田嶺神社). When most shrines use 2-5 kanji, this one stays memorable with 12.

These mounds are called “sei,” a way for people to connect with the gods and show appreciation for their blessings.

What would have been ordinary during a clear day became surreal. This, too, was a blessing.
